We don’t have children yet, but we feel prepared and excited about the possibility of caring for one. Our past experience as professional caregivers—especially working with adults with developmental disabilities—has shaped us in meaningful ways. It’s taught us patience, flexibility, compassion, and how to think creatively to meet someone’s needs.
